Assembling your new scooter

If you've just ordered a new complete scooter from us, there's a small amount of assembly you'll need to do before you're ready to roll!

The only thing you'll need to do with your new complete scooter is attach the bars. The only tool you'll need for this is a 5mm or 6mm allen key, depending on your scooter. You'll find this in the box with your new ride.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you always use the correct size allen key! Using the wrong size will round the bolt head and require professional repair.

Ensure your forks are facing forward, then slide your handle bars down into place. The Clamp bolts at the bottom of your Bars should be at the back, if the bars are tight to fit, just loosen the two clamp bolts a couple of turns & retry, don't be scared to bump the front wheel on the ground a couple of times to ensure the bars are all the way down. There should be no gap between the bottom of the bars & the top fork bearing cap. Standing over the scooter, visually check that the bars and the front wheel are both aligned straight. Using your allen key, tighten the two clamp bolts in a clockwise direction. Alternate between the bolts every few rotations to ensure the clamp tightens evenly onto the bars. Check to make sure the bars and wheel are still aligned once tightened.

That's it! Your new ride is ready to go!

Maintaining your scooter

As you spend more time on your scooter you may find that you need to make some adjustments to keep it running at its best. If your scooter has developed some movement in the bars or is making unusual noises while you're riding, you may need to adjust the headset compression. Don't panic, this isn't as tricky as it might sound. This guide will walk you through the steps involved. If however you do get stuck, we're happy to help you at The Scooter Village.

Again, always make sure you use the correct size allen key! Using the wrong size will damage the bolts, leaving them stuck in place.

The first thing you'll need to do is remove your bars.

For IHC and HIC setups, simply loosen the two clamp bolts then slide the bars up off the forks. The bars may be a little stubborn, in which case it may help to stand on the deck while pulling the bars upwards.

For SCS set ups, loosen all four bolt clamps before sliding the bars out from the clamp.

Once the bars are off, you can make adjustments to the headset compression. This will generally require a 5mm or 6mm allen key.

If your scooter has movement in the headset or the headset is making noise while riding, place an allen key onto the bolt on top of your forks and turn it slightly in a clockwise direction to tighten the headset.

If you're finding that your scooter bars do not turn freely, turn the allen key slightly in a counter-clockwise direction to loosen the headset compression.
